The Furlong dog needs clipping. So do us human Furlongs – the hairdresser comes to our house which is most convenient.
But it’s winter, and dog might get cold. Also I prefer the long hair, but Mr Furlong prefers the clipped look. What to do? Clipped is much easier to look after…so to clip, or not to clip – that is the question.
Clip I think!

I would go for clipped but mainly because it prevents knots. Neither I or any of my dogs liked the combing out of knots, and I simply didn’t have the patience to comb them every day. So I did just cut out the knots.
This is, of course, an option for you if you want to leave the hair long. It generally doesn’t show, and there is absolutely no reason to feel guilty about it.

Yes – absolutely true. He gets brushed a lot which IS a pain – though he loves it. We are going to France for ten days in two weeks. Our daughter is looking after him and it would be easier for her if she didn’t have to brush. So he’s booked in with his “hairstylist” for next Friday….

Very nice too. And it should be a bit warmer down there.

Compromise and do a half cut. Long enough to keep warm and short enough not to tangle too badly.
