Claudia Wypych, Tourrettes Var artist, 2017 Post one

The artist whose work I have really loved, is that of Claudia Wypych, who has an atelier in Tourrettes Var. Her atelier is called Les Cinq Terres.

Les Cinq Terres means The Five Earths. Isn’t that a strange name you might ask? Well it is the very reason her work is so inspiring to me. Her art is made with the rocks, clays and earths she collects from the surrounding countryside. We cannot afford big art works, which I’ll tell you about in another post, but she paints on tiny, tiny canvases that we can afford.

Each miniature is created on a proper canvas! And when you bring it home, you are bringing back the earth of Provence – a special thing.

You might wonder if Claudia’s art is dull, being painted with the natural colours of earth, but it’s not. She uses the most stunning turquoise in her work – and gold.

She makes even rust look beautiful!

Here are some photos I took in her atelier in Tourrettes Var on the main street to Fayence.

You will see the earths she uses and the tiny canvases she uses for her miniatures.

Here is a link to my last year’s post with the stunning turquoise scarab which we bought in miniature last year,  Claudia Wypych – Tourrettes Var

I'm someone also pounding the Path, just like you.. I'm retired, going into Old Age and loving my life. I'm hoping to remain happy and well for as long as possible. Old Age is not SO bad - yet!
