Cremations

One sign you are aging is that you go to more funerals than you used to.

Yesterday, I went to a funeral – a cremation. It was reasonable. The coffin was in the front, sideways on so you could see it, To each side were curtains that simply silently closed at the end of the service.

So, I presume, after we left, the frail old body inside would have been cremated later – hopefully without the beautiful outer coffin.

I prefer “cremation at an unknown time” rather than the old way of watching the coffin slide through curtains into the furnace – if that is the way it worked. I always used to drive home imagining my friend/loved one gradually melting away, fat popping in the heat, sizzling horribly. Rather like the Nazi melting scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

But then, I’ve always had a good imagination. And in 1981 this was high-tech special effects! Refresh your horror….

I'm someone also pounding the Path, just like you.. I'm retired, going into Old Age and loving my life. I'm hoping to remain happy and well for as long as possible. Old Age is not SO bad - yet!
