There are some things we have been lied to about. The very cruel treatment of smokers by Public Health on the back of very dodgy science is one. The myth of cholesterol causing heart attacks and the Statin use to “lower cholesterol” is another. The low-fat promotion by Public Health has caused harm to society. And now there are strong opinions being manipulated in the minds of the populous against sugar. And worse, against obesity. Fat people are beginning to be reviled as smokers are.
What we eat and drink should not be in the hands of people who have got so much wrong before, wanting to regulate us!
If we tax sugar (the cause of obesity) artificial sweeteners will be used more. And as no one has any good explanation of exactly what causes obesity, we can assume we are being led by fools.
What if the lack of fat in our diets contributes to obesity?
What if artificial sweeteners/ artificial chemicals/ growth hormones/ oestrogens in our water/ plastic food wraps/ food alteration contributes to obesity?
What if the instruction to “eat five fruits and vegetables” a day, contributes to obesity?
Sugar – the new processed kind – empty sugar – does affect us. I can feel how it affects me through experience. And the new awareness of how bad it is. is good – I approve! But taxing sugar is a form of governmental greed. I see it as dangerous because what we have now will be substituted for in other possibly harmful ways. There are enough unhealthy chemicals in our food already and we have taxes for just about everything too.
