The Last Furlong

Comments on the race of life.

Emphasising illness culture

We live in an era where the media marinate us in ill health. It’s hard to remain positive that our health will remain robust as we age, Mr Furlong and I. We are open to nocebos of all the stuff that affects “the aging polulation” that we see in the media.

Yesterday I wrote about re-discovering Coue.

“Coué believed in the effects of medication. But he also believed that our mental state is able to affect and even amplify the action of these medications. By consciously using autosuggestion, he observed that his patients could cure themselves more efficiently by replacing their “thought of illness” with a new “thought of cure””

Trouble is, a lot of medication in this modern world, does not cure! It controls. But I suppose that’s better than nothing.

I'm someone also pounding the Path, just like you.. I'm retired, going into Old Age and loving my life. I'm hoping to remain happy and well for as long as possible. Old Age is not SO bad - yet!

Please do comment! That's part of the fun...
