The Last Furlong

Our Eclipse

We had a disappointing eclipse. Or rather, everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Mr Furlong shared his arc welding visor around and the others played around with pinholes and collunders. But, for me, it was really disappointing.

I have experienced a total eclipse – an awesome moment when animals and the surroundings go quiet and dark. So I set up a recorder to catch the silence of the birds on tape. I recorded before and during. What a laugh. Our grey clouds turned a little greyer and the birds went on chirping as normal.

Furthermore, any awesome reverence was held away by a three year old pounding around with the arc welding visor, trying to look at the dog with them.

I am glad I once experienced the real thing.  But today wasn’t it.

I did get a stunning photo. Looks touched up – but it arrived on my phone just like this!

I'm someone also pounding the Path, just like you.. I'm retired, going into Old Age and loving my life. I'm hoping to remain happy and well for as long as possible. Old Age is not SO bad - yet!
