Over the years, we have loved watching Crufts on TV. Best dog of the year is always the Furlong dog Bobby, so we tell him.
Bobby takes no interest in Crufts unlike our last dog, a Westie, that used to watch the TV screen avidly – especially the Flyball. She could see the screen and recognise dogs on it. She loved watching Crufts with us.
Our Bobby is totally unaware. We even point at the screen, but he doesn’t seem to be able to see it. Yet, he’s a really sharp fellow in other ways.
He HEARS the TV. In the program Midsomer Murders, there is a Jack Russell called “Sykes”. Bobby loves? or hates? the sound of Sykes. Even if Sykes is not actually doing anything, or making any kind of sound we can hear, Bobby knows Sykes is around.
He will bristle and growl, and tear outside with loud barks, to find Sykes on our property.
But Sykes is never out there in our garden. Sykes is not always at Crufts either – though he has visited. Sykes is busy being famous already. But is he as cute as Bobby?
