The cheese stands alone

Mr Furlong starts singing with our granddaughter. The Farmer in the dell. She loves it and when he gets to “takes a” he stops singing and she tells us what gets taken.

I was always a child that was “different”. Clumpy, gawky, annoying, a nuisance really, so I always got given the “boy” parts in the ballet or the play. And I always ended up as the cheese!

The farmer in the dell is a cruel song when the bullied kid ends up after all the popular children are chosen as the wife, the child, the nurse, the cow, the dog, the cat, the mouse and then – oh the shame! –  as the cheese…..

I'm someone also pounding the Path, just like you.. I'm retired, going into Old Age and loving my life. I'm hoping to remain happy and well for as long as possible. Old Age is not SO bad - yet!
