Win or lose

Strange thing with this WordPress blog, that if I post something really serious, i will lose a follower. If, on the day after, I post something fluffy, I gain a follower.I am not writing this blog to gain or lose followers. I am doing it for fun – and to have something to do in the wee small hours of the night to fill up the lonely time.

Mr Furlong and I are mostly serious people. Mr Furlong contemplated the Pilger post I made the other day – John Pilger – Palestine is still the issue

and after watching the movie, told me his solution for Palestine/Israel. It is one that other thoughtful people have come up with. Palestine/Israel should be ONE country.

Simples!

Have I lost a follower again I wonder?

  1. There is always going to be a problem with opinions about Israel. My own opinion is not a popular one. The Israelis were virtually stateless after The Shoa and were fighting for their very existence, and they didn’t start this particular War. They are retaliators, while Hamas is fighting with dirty tricks. It is always they who break the ceasefires, but somehow manage to make it look as though Israel is the aggressor.
The truth is that Hamas want The Jews out, and preferably all dead, but this isn’t going to happen again. Hamas can’t win, and they know it, so they just try to make The Jews look as bad as possible.
Without the incredible efforts of The Jews, Israel wouldn’t be what it is today, but then The Palestinians wouldn’t want it. They could have put in the back breaking effort, but never even tried.
I am not Jewish, but I was around at the start of it all, and remain unashamed of my support.
But I don’t seriously want to fall out with anyone over this.

    • It’s true – there are so many opinions. I don’t think Jews look bad. Israel looks bad. And Hamas don’t look any better, except the Palestinians evoke some sympathy by many for the apartheid, blockading and poor treatment they have endured in the takeover of their country, approved and aided by the West. They are aggrieved big time. The history fascinates me. The West has meddled unwisely in so many countries they “invented” after WW 2 we seem surprised that we are now reaping the harvest of violence from their shortsighted interference. The “big countries” laid all the seeds for the future we have now in Europe and the Middle East – and Asia too, if we trackback. Millions of lives have been – (think of the Partitioning if India), and are being lost. That said, it’s been done. Tracking back like Hammas constantly does, only inflames and does not help. The problem now is to find a solution for NOW. What would yours be for Palestine particularly?
