We often watch You’ve been Framed. With great regularity we see the woman falling down trapdoor.
This was uploaded to the then reasonably new You Tube in 2007. I thought I had read somewhere that she severely injured herself – I feel horrid that we are still laughing. I cannot find the article I read now. And the clip – there are many many more on You Tube – has become a classic. Every generation uploads it with differing titles like Fat Lady falls down trap door, or Stupid woman falls down trapdoor – and worse.
In actual fact the video first uploaded in 2007 was a recording of an event that happened ten years before. She escaped with just cuts and bruises. (BBC report of the time.)
And I find that’s a relief to know.

A Scottish barmaid has found fame in America after a video clip showing her falling through a trapdoor became an internet hit.
Mairi Duncan, from Dalkeith, Midlothian last night appeared on chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live alongside actor Rupert Everett.
The footage of the 30-year-old’s 14ft plunge at the Unicorn bar in Dalkeith was taken in 1997 and the clip first appeared on TV show You’ve Been Framed, before being picked up by video-sharing website YouTube.
The mother of one is shown in the pub stepping back after serving a customer, not realising a colleague has opened a trapdoor behind her and disappearing through the hatch into the cellar.
Researchers on the American ABC network tracked down Ms Duncan’s contact details from Granada TV, the makers of You’ve Been Framed.
The fall clip – which can be seen at http://www.youtube.com – has become one of the site’s most popular videos.
